About Rex Walrond
Rex Walrond combines a foundation in behavioral and cognitive neuroscience with graduate training in finance. At the University of Notre Dame, he serves as a healthcare sector student analyst for the Fighting Irish Capital Fund, where he helps manage an $800,000+ student-led equity portfolio and evaluates investment opportunities using discounted cash flow and precedent transaction analysis.
Before entering finance, Rex developed experience in neuroscience and pharmaceutical research. At the McKnight Brain Institute, he synthesized evidence across more than 300 studies concerning subarachnoid hemorrhage and Alzheimer’s disease. At Romark Laboratories, he built analytical dashboards tracking more than 25 drug candidates and reviewed more than 400 articles and multi-drug datasets.
His work is grounded in a consistent approach: define the question clearly, evaluate evidence carefully, organize complex information, and communicate a practical conclusion.
